FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • The consultation fee includes a one-hour in-home consultation where we walk through the rooms you’re looking to update and discuss the specific scope of work. It also includes high level discussions on feasibility, function, timing and budgets. In addition, the consultation fee includes the preparation of a formal proposal, outlining the estimated number of hours per room based on the scope of work. The proposal is sent to our clients within 72 business hours of the consultation.

  • No, we do not pass along trade pricing to our clients. We believe strongly in creating relationships with our vendor reps in order to ensure we are providing you with the highest quality pieces with the best level of customer support. To do that, we spend lots of time reviewing product options, maintaining strong communication with reps, and ensuring a smooth process during procurement. The benefit to you is a wonderful client experience with trusted professionals.

  • No. Parris McKenna Design handles all procurement. We collect a retainer of $10,000 once you’ve signed our agreement, which we hold until the end of the project and draw down from as we are nearing completion. We will add all purchases that we make for you onto the bi-weekly invoices you receive.

  • Parris McKenna Design will provide you with a proposal of estimated design hours based on the scope of work following our initial on-site consultation. This helps our clients understand what’s included in the scope of work and what to anticipate spending on design fees.

  • We run our design process a little differently here at Parris McKenna Design! While we’re happy to see a few select images of the overall aesthetic you gravitate towards (3-4 maximum), we’ll be the ones providing you with the inspiration boards! This is why it’s so important to spend time and effort answering the questions in your Onboarding Questionnaire - it helps us understand your needs, wants, likes and dislikes, and more.

  • There are lots of steps that happen in between the on-site consultation and when you receive your Design Proposal, including Concept Boards, Space Planning Packages, and revisions as required. We do our best to turn this around as quickly as possible, but ultimately the more time that goes into these phases, the smoother your project will run and the more cohesive the Design Plan will be. You can expect a minimum of 10-12 weeks between the initial on-site consultation and the Design Plan proposal.

  • Yes.

This is an extremely important and valuable aspect of a project, whether it’s construction or simply furnishing. Parris McKenna Design requires drawings for all projects, which are an additional expense beyond the designer fees. We arrange for on-site measurements, as-built drawings, and 2D elevations. We also offer the opportunity to purchase 3D renderings which allow our clients to see the depth perspective of a room and help to eliminate any questions of what the final product will look like in real life. Please note that all drawings are the property of, and belong to, Parris McKenna Design.
