Designing Forward: How PMD Is Approaching a New Year, New Projects, and a Growing Team
A new year brings momentum, but for us, it also brings clarity.
As PMD moves into 2026, our focus isn’t on doing more. It’s on doing the right work, with the right people, in a way that allows design to unfold fully and thoughtfully.
DESIGN IS ALWAYS A SHARED PROCESS
One of the most meaningful evolutions at PMD this year has been the growth of our team.
Behind every finished home is a group of designers, collaborators, and trade partners working together - refining ideas, solving problems, and shaping details long before a space is complete. As we head into the new year, we want to bring that team forward more intentionally.
For clients, knowing who’s involved in your project matters. Homes that feel lived-in and resolved are never the result of one voice alone, they come from shared thinking, clear communication, and trust in the process. Spotlighting our team creates familiarity and confidence from the very beginning.
WHY TRUST CHANGES THE OUTCOME
Trust sits at the centre of our best work.
When clients choose PMD because they trust how we work, not just how things look, it gives us the space to lead. To ask better questions. To move beyond what feels safe or expected. To make decisions that honour the architecture, the home’s history, and the people who live there.
That trust allows design to breathe. It leads to spaces that feel layered rather than overworked, personal rather than prescriptive. As we move into 2026, we’re intentionally focusing on projects where that alignment exists from day one, because it’s what allows us to do our most impressive and aligned work.
LOOKING AHEAD
This year also marked an important step forward with the expansion of our Muskoka presence.
With a full-time team working locally, we’re able to be more hands-on, more responsive, and more connected to the landscape.
Across both Muskoka and Toronto, our focus will be on whole-home renovations and new builds. Projects where we can shape the story from the ground up. These are the homes that allow us to think holistically, from architecture and layout to custom furniture, materials, and the quiet details that bring everything together.
Creatively, 2026 is about leaning further into character. More story in our furniture and fixtures. More visual interest. Fewer decisions driven by what feels familiar, and more by what feels right for the home.
After achieving nine out of ten goals we set for ourselves this year, we’re heading into the next with optimism, and ambition. Sometimes, setting intentions is the first step toward real momentum.
